2010 NSW – Try for Hannah

On 13 March 2010, Hannah Coary, a Year 2 student at Holy Spirit School North Ryde, passed away on after battling a cancerous brain tumour. “Try for Hannah” was established by Hannah’s friends and family to honour Hannah.

The Try for Hannah Fun Run took place on Sunday 12 September 2010 as part of the Ryde Rivers Festival. Over a thousand people participated in the event, dressed in bright orange “Try for Hannah” t-shirts and caps.

Due to the outpouring of community support, the funds donated in Hannah’s memory were not only able to be directed towards a special piece of equipment in one of the George Gregan Foundation playgrounds, but greatly assisted in the upgrade of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead playground. “Try for Hannah” raised in excess of $130,000. The George Gregan Foundation would like to thank everyone who supported this amazing event.
